Administrative / biographical background:

The Public Services Sector of Treasury was responsible for accountancy standards in government. Under this sector the Accountancy Advice Group was introduced in 1981 to administer advice and monitor standards. In 1984 the Expenditure Support Group took over this role. Under the sector and both successive groups the Accountancy, Finance and Audit Division was responsible for this work.
