Title: | Ordnance Survey of England and Wales: One-Inch Maps 'Old Series' |
Description: |
The maps in this series are the one-inch maps of England and Wales, published by the Ordnance Survey at various dates between 1805 and 1869; sheet 1 was actually published by William Faden in 1801. They subsequently became known as the 'Old Series'. The maps do not form a complete set. The material in this series is non record material originally held in the Library. |
Date: | 1801-1869 |
Arrangement: |
The sequence of sheet numbers is not geographically logical: sheet numbers were allocated in order of publication. It is therefore necessary to consult the appropriate index map (on open access shelves in the Map and Large Document Room) in order to identify a required sheet number. |
