Folios 453-454. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from John T Graves, Poor Law Inspector, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union Workhouse on 19 May 1864; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards etc. He notes that Miss Sheppard, Schoolmistress has only a provisional appointment but the reports of her fitness for post are favourable. Also a man named Richard Gardner is violent and dangerous although he is coherent and rational. Annotated: should the Board address a communication to the guardians regarding Gardner's case? Also annotated: the workhouse medical officer does not think Gardner is of unsound mind. He has gout and is partially paralyzed. Further annotated: has this case been notice on any of the recent reports of the commissioners in lunacy? Also annotated: he is not mentioned in the last three reports. Paper Number: 19742/1864.
