Description:

Folios 665-667. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from John T Graves, Inspector, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union Workhouse on 27 November 1860. He notes that there is a good detached infirmary, and that the W H M O [Workhouse Medical Officer] sees paupers on admission to check their health. According to the chaplain the school is well managed. There are currently 82 inmates, all Church of England. Vagrants are relieved at Bromsgrove and Redditch under police supervision.

Enclosed extract of the report which states that according to a return of 29 September, there were 574 successful vaccinations out of 963 live births. Mr Hobbes [Jonathan Lord Hobbes], vaccinator for the Bellbroughton [Belbroughton] District, has not recorded any vaccinations, although the guardians generally regard him as a good officer. They have asked him for an explanation.
