Reference: WORK 25
Title: Festival of Britain Office and predecessors: Festival of Britain: records
Description:

This series contains records of the Festival of Britain Office and of its predecessors, the Treasury Festival Headquarters and the Festival Exhibition Unit of the Central Office of Information. The records, which were taken over by the Ministry of Works in 1953 on the dissolution of the Festival of Britain Office, include correspondence relating to the planning and operations of the Festival and minutes of the Festival Council and various committees; original art work; plans and drawings; photographs; printed matter; miscellanea; and copyright documents.

Date: 1948-1952
Arrangement:

Before transfer to the Public Record Office, the records of the Festival of Britain Office were classified into seven categories, identified with the letters A-G. Each of these categories has been treated as a subseries. The eighth subseries consists of items transferred after the original typescript catalogue of the records was compiled.

Individual items within this series have been numbered using the 'catalogue numbers' assigned to them before transfer. Therefore the item numbers do not always form a single sequence within each piece and there are occasionally gaps in the numbering.
