Description:

Folios 189-191. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from John Thomas Graves, Poor Law Inspector, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Kidderminster Poor Law Union Workhouse on 4 November 1862; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards etc. Alterations and improvements are being made to the above workhouse.

Attached copy of entry in the Kidderminster Poor Law Unions book by [JB Browne] Inspector of Schools on 16 May. He state the boys superiority to the girls is very marked even though many of the girls can read and write. He believes there has been much illness among the girls. He hopes the children will be kept separate from the adult paupers and that children under 4 should not go to school. There is a note from JT Graves that he has no reason to think there is any undue communication between the adults and children.

Annotated: The Board have sanctioned these alterations and improvements.
