Catalogue description Ordnance Office and War Office: Warrants of Royal Approval
|Title:||Ordnance Office and War Office: Warrants of Royal Approval|
This series comprises warrants of royal approval, mostly in bound volumes, originating in the Ordnance Office until about 1860, and the War Office, but brought together in the Ministry of Defence library. They relate to pay and promotions, patterns (of dress and equipment), arms, and augmentations (i.e. increases in regimental etc. numbers).
Entries in earlier volumes are numbered, but this practice appears to have been gradually dropped.
For the warrants for which this series is a continuation see WO 55
For related submissions see WO 103
