The Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) was established under the provisions in the Agriculture Act 1969 and was responsible jointly to Defra, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales. The role of the MLC was mainly to market, promote and enhance the public perception of British meat. In 2008 the MLC was restructured and replaced by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board. |
