Recommendation for the mitigation of sentence for selected prisoners on board the Bellerophon hulk.

Names and details of prisoners:

Collins Newington aged 45 convicted at Canterbury [Kent] on 18 January 1821 of felony. Initial sentence: fourteen years transportation, commuted to seven. [Entry crossed through].

Robert Spencer aged 15 convicted in London on 29 October 1817 of stealing six silk handkerchiefs. Initial sentence transportation for life, mitigated to 14 years.

James Dwyer aged 14 convicted in Middlesex on 11 April 1821 of stealing a handkerchief from the person. Initial sentence seven years transportation.

Gaoler's name: Captain Owen.

Grounds for clemency (Recommendation Details): Served more than half their sentence; good behaviour; recommended by Henry Capper Superintendent.

Annotated (Recommendation Details): 'Granted as to Spencer and Dwyer' 'Free Pardon prepared January 1825.'
