Julius HAMMER / Armand HAMMER: Russian, American. A founder member of the American Communist Party, Julius HAMMER came to notice in the 1920s as being in contact with a person suspected of transmitting funds to the USA for revolutionary purposes and as the founder of several companies believed to be under Soviet control, notably the Allied American Corporation of which his son Armand HAMMER was an official. The London branch of this company appeared to be the financial agent of the Soviet Government for propaganda purposes and the Hammers were associated with a woman known to be an OGPU agent
