The Joint Planning and Advisory Committee (JPAC) was set up to advise the Department of Health and Social Security and the Welsh Office on the numbers of posts required in the medical and dental training grades, both NHS and honorary, and on the quotas to be allocated jointly to Regional Health Authorities and their associated universities, Special Hospital Authorities and Wales. The first meeting was held on 18 December 1985, under the chairmanship of Professor B Tomlinson, Chairman of the Northern Regional Health Authority. |
