Description:

Captured ship: Nuestra Senora del Carmen of Callao (master Marios or Marcos Moreno).

History: a Spanish merchant ship (250 tons, 30 men"whites, Blakes & Indians"), bound from Panama to Callao, Peru, laden with medicine, steel, wax, paper, planks and cinnamon; taken on 12/23 November 1741 off Payta, Peru, by HMS Centurion (George Anson commanding), and condemned at sea under a special commission issued to Commodore Anson's expedition.
