Description:

Captured ship: Dorothea Sophia of Stettin (master Peter Ketelhut).

History: a Prussian merchant ship (10 men, and 2 passengers who had been rescued from a sinking English ship the Falcon of Falmouth, taken as a prize by L'Esperance of San Sebastian), bound from Bordeaux to Rotterdam, laden with wine, vinegar, brandy, prunes, sugar, coffee, paper, cork and chestnuts; taken on 30 November/11 December 1744 between Dover and Dungeness, by the privateer Eagle Snow (John Bazely commanding), and brought into Dover.
