Description:

Captured ship: St Antonio e Almas Santas (master Antonio Fernandes).

History: a Portuguese merchant ship (500 tons, 17 guns, 85 men) bound from Calicut to St Thome [Santhome, India], laden with cotton, pepper, timber, plank, china, pitch and coir cordage, and with a private adventure of arrack to sell at Fort St David; taken on 8 May 1747 four leagues east of Fort St David's roads on suspicion of carrying French goods by HMS Medway's Prize (William Holmes commanding) goods taken and sold at Fort St David, [Cuddalore, India] 8 May 1747.
