Description:

Folio(s) 40-42. Copy out-letter to the Earl of Warwick [Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire] from the Home Secretary, in which he urges the Birmingham magistrates to redouble their efforts to put into effect the measures recommended on 24 September 1800 which cannot fail to identify and bring to justice those who are exploiting the current high price of food to ferment insurrection which would convert a scarcity into a famine. He agrees with the Earl of Warwick that there is no adequate reason for the current high prices, and trusts that measures to lower the prices will ultimately solve the problem of public order.
