Administrative / biographical background:

The Education Funding Agency (EFA) is the Department of Education’s delivery agency for funding and compliance and is responsible for distributing funding for state education in England for 3-19 year olds or the ages of 3 and 25 for those with learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as managing the estates of schools, academies, Free Schools and sixth-form colleges.

The EFA was formed on 1 April 2012 by bringing together the functions of two non-departmental public bodies, the Young People's Learning Agency and Partnerships for Schools.
