Details of WALE 30
Reference: WALE 30
Title: Palatinate of Chester: Ancient Deeds, Series FF
Description:

These records were formerly part of the archives accumulated by the administrative institutions of the palatinate of Chester. It seems probable that the deeds were lodged with the exchequer of Chester and the other courts of the palatinate for the purpose of enrolment or as evidence to be shown at legal proceedings and exchequer audit

They represent a small section of a collection of private deeds (ranging in date from the thirteenth to the eighteenth centuries). This series consists of conveyancing records dating from the reign of Elizabeth I or earlier. They are large deeds extracted from WALE 29

The series is predominantly made up of evidences of title which had formerly been part of private archives. It includes only one piece relating to property in Wales: a release given by the Earl of Leicester (d. 1588) to Edward ap Hugh of certain dues of the barony of Denbigh and one will (piece 54)
