Administrative / biographical background:

The Chief Economic Adviser's Sector was created in 1975. The Economic Assessment Group was created in 1981 and was briefly renamed as the Economic Adviser in 1985 before reverting back to its original title in 1987. The role of the Domestic Forecasting and Analysis Division (EA1) was 'Forecasts of inflation and of personal and private sectors'. The work on forecasts and analysis in EA1 was split into separate teams relating to personal sector, company sector, earnings and prices and the labour market.
