The Inter-Departmental Committee on International Air Communications was set up to consider questions of international air communications which raised political, economic, financial and strategic issues. It reported to the Secretary of State for Air.

The committee was constituted by a Treasury Minute of 29 May 1935 under the Chairmanship of Sir Warren Fisher (Treasury) with representatives from the Treasury, the Foreign Office, the Colonial Office, the Dominions Office, the Air Ministry, the General Post Office, the Board of Trade and the India Office.
