The Central Priority Department was set up in 1939 in the Ministry of Supply in order to execute the decisions of the Ministerial Priority Committee and its sub-committees. Its function was to allocate materials, capacity and labour and to establish priorities where necessary. It was absorbed by the Ministry of Production in 1942. |
