The Division continued with the administration aspects of Concorde operations, but also became focussed on the environmental aspects of the programme.

The Division was also responsible for the negotiation of compensation under the terms of the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977. This act established British Aerospace and British Shipbuilders as corporate bodies and made provision for compensation to be paid to the companies which formed these two nationalised industries.

Administrative / biographical background:

Concorde Division was established in 1971 to administer all aspects of the Concorde project. In 1977 its name was changed to the Concorde and Nationalisation Compensation Division to reflect a change of emphasis when the division became responsible for negotiations for compensation under the Aircraft and Shipbuilding Industries Act 1977. The division was wound up in 1981.
