High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Vergulde Boender (master Jan Vos).

History: a Dutch merchant ship (104 Dutch lasts, 2 guns, 11 men) bound from Riga to Brest, laden with masts, deals and rukkers (poles); taken on 12 September 1778 a mile west of Dover by HMSSpeedwell (Thomas Bornford Mainwaring commanding ), and brought first into the Downs, and then into Portsmouth.
