Description:

High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: De Jonge Ulbe (master Siebe Nannes).

History: a Dutch merchant ship (68 lasts, 5 men), bound from Libourne to Rotterdam, laden with wine; taken on 23 December 1780 between Dover and Calais by the privateer Rachael (Thomas Latimore commanding), and brought into Dover.

(Includes copies of depositions from the Registry of the High Court of Admiralty and other papers, relating to the previous capture of the same ship when bound from Bordeaux to St Malo laden with wine, taken on 14 May 1780 off Ushant by the privateer Achilles (John Williams commanding) and taken into Weymouth). On that occasion, the cargo had been condemned and the ship restored).
