History: a French hospital ship (29 guns, 104 men including 3 doctors and 2 priests, 11 soldiers), bound from Mauritius, laden with wine, brandy, sugar, arrack, molasses; taken on 17 February 1782 in the road of Negapatam on the coast of Coromandel, East Indies by the East India Company privateer Chapman (Thomas Walker commanding), and brought into Bengal. Court papers: 1-6; Ship's papers: 7. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued]. |
