Commissioner John Kempthorne, Portsmouth. The Purveyor has gone to Milland to hasten Mr Steward's timber and will be sent to mark up Mr Fitch's timber at Beaulieu when he returns. His son received orders from Secretary Pepys that William Woolfe is to be discharged. The Master Shipwright says there will not be too much plank for the new ships from Mr Coles's contract. Receipt of orders concerning the repairs of the Gloucester and the Crown. Mr Steventon has shown him the account of the £3000 imprest which shows that there is no money left to pay Captain Moore so he asks for more money. He will negotiate with Mr Oxford. Receipt of directions to restore Boatswain Keymore as requested to the Board by Sir William Bowerman. Last Sunday there was a sailing trial between the Royal James and the Royal Charles from Spithead to the Channel. |
