Catalogue description Office of the Parliamentary Counsel: Orders and Transfer of Function Orders

This series contains bound volumes and papers relating to legislation enacted under an Order that has, where appropriate, amendments together with weeded documentation including drafting notes, significant correspondence relating to the preparation of the legislation, opinions and memoranda.

The contents of the series reflect the translation of policy into legislation and give valuable historical insight into the process at the highest level. Individual sponsoring government departments when considering further legislation often need to consult the original Office of the Parliamentary Counsel records when they have not retained or transferred their own records on legislation that they sponsored.
