This series consists of correspondence files dealing with the purchase of land required for new railways or the widening of existing railways, the disposal of surplus land, licensing of land and property to and by the company, enquiries from people and organisations outside the company concerning proposed purchases and sales of land and property, the crossing of the company's land by utility pipes and cables, housing for staff and relocated residents, maintenance of property, roads and paths, compensation paid to owners, lessees, tenants and residents affected by railway works. The series includes records of work at joint stations including Holbeach (Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway) and Nottingham (Victoria) Joint Station. |
