Administrative / biographical background:

'Can Parent' was launched in May 2012 when the UK Government announced the £5 million scheme to give parents of children under the age of five, £100 vouchers to be spent on buying lessons from independent organisations such as the National Childcare Trust. The vouchers would be distributed through Boots, and would offer parents up to 10 two-hour sessions of advice on how best to bring up their children.

Initially the scheme, overseen by the Department for Education, would be piloted in three areas, Middlesbrough, Camden in north London and High Peak, Derbyshire, but could be extended throughout England and Wales if successful.
