Under Sections 51 and 52 of this Act, Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was authorised to demise, lease, sell or otherwise dispose of its undertaking to Preston and Wyre Railway Dock and Harbour Company, and thereafter this Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was to be dissolved and wound up.

Under Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Act of 23rd July 1856, above mentioned Act of 1846 was repealed, but Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was to remain incorporated notwithstanding such repeal, and Section 47 of act authorising sale of the Preston and Longridge Railway Company to Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was also to remain in full force notwithstanding such repeal. By Agreement dated 14th March 1856, scheduled to this 1856 Act, Preston and Longridge Railway Company was sold to Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company, "full and peaceable possession of the Preston and Longridge Railway and Premises" to be "delivered by Longridge Company to Fleetwood Company on the 31st August 1856."

Under Section 94 of this 1856 Act, Sections 51 and 52 of act of 1846 above referred to, authorising the demise, lease, sale or otherwise disposing of Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company to Preston and Wyre Railway Harbour and Dock Company, were also to remain in full force notwithstanding said repeal, and under Section 97 of 1856 Act, as soon as sale had been completed, Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was to be dissolved and wound up.

Under London and North Western and Lancashire and Yorkshire railway companies (Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Vesting) Act 17th June 1867, however, Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was vested in London and North Western and Lancashire and Yorkshire railway companies jointly, and, in accordance with Section 11 of this Act, Fleetwood Preston and West Riding Junction Railway Company was to be dissolved.

Affairs of undertaking of this company were, under Section 14, to be managed by Joint Committee of 5 Directors each from London and North Western and Lancashire and Yorkshire railway companies, such Joint Committee to be called Preston and Longridge Railway Joint Committee. This Joint Committee was merged into London and North Western and Lancashire and Yorkshire Joint Committee as from 1st January 1889 under Section 68 of London and North Western Railway Act 7th August 1888.

Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company was amalgamated with London and North Western Railway Company as from 1st January 1922 under Amalgamation Scheme dated 20th December 1921, and London and North Western Railway Company was vested in London Midland and Scottish Railway Company from 1st January 1923 under North Western, Midland and West Scottish Group Amalgamation Scheme 1922, dated 30th December 1922.
