Administrative / biographical background:

In April 1970 on the basis of evidence provided by the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Minister of Agriculture announced the Government’s intention to set up a Committee of Inquiry to consider and report on the future role and educational needs of the veterinary profession in the UK and to make recommendations. The Committee received and considered both written and oral evidence with a final report detailing the Committee’s recommendations being published in July 1975.
