Incorporated by Oswestry Ellesmere and Whitchurch Railway Act 1st August 1861. By Cambrian Railways Act 25th July 1864, company together with (1) Oswestry and Newtown Railway Company, (2) Llanidloes and Newtown Railway Company, and (3) Newtown and Machynlleth Railway Company, was dissolved and constituted one undertaking under name of Cambrian Railways, which was amalgamated with Great Western Railway as from 1st January 1923 by virtue of Railways Act 19th August 1921.
