The Economics of Taxation Division was created in 1981 under the Domestic Economy Sector Economic Unit and there under the Domestic Economy Sector of HM Treasury. Its role was to provide advice on taxation for policy measures undertaken by HM Treasury. It was the 'DEU 2' team that had primary responsibility for the function of providing advice on the economics of taxation. The Domestic Economy Sector Economic Unit had one other administrative division called the Economics of Industrial Expenditure Division that provided economic advice to industry and agriculture and public enterprise groups. The Economics of Taxation Division existed from 1981-1986. The function was continued by the Economic Taxation and Social Security Division 1987-1995 |
