Incorporated under act of 24th July 1851.

Under the North & South Western Junction Railway Act 14th August 1871 the undertaking was leased in perpetuity, in terms of an agreement dated 25th April 1871 scheduled to the Act, to the London & North Western, the Midland and the North London railway companies, and a joint committee for the management of the company was to be appointed in the terms of the Act. The lease was to take effect from 1st January 1871.

The North and South Western Junction Railway Company was vested in the London Midland & Scottish Railway Company as from 1st January 1923 under the London Midland & Scottish Railway Preliminary Absorption Scheme 1923 dated 3rd April 1923.
