Norwich and Ann: journal and accounts aboard. Ship's log by Richard James aboard the frigate Nourwich [Norwich] under the command of Captain Peter Heourd on a Royal African Company trading voyage from Portsmouth to the Cape Coast of Guinea. After trading along the Cape Coast from September to December 1678 Richard James was ordered by the Royal African Company Agent to leave the Nourwich to take charge as Master of the ship the Ann bound for Barbados with a cargo of 70 slaves and then to England. Subsequent detail of the voyage of the Ann to Barbados is continued in the log. 40 slaves are reported to have survived the passage to Barbados. The log includes 4 pages of navigational calculations. |
