The Andover and Redbridge Railway Company was incorporated under the Andover and Redbridge Railway Company Act of 12th July 1858.

The act converted the Andover and Redbridge Canal Company into a railway company responsible for the construction of railway lines from Andover to Redbridge, Southampton. In 1863, the company amalgamated with the London and South Western Railway Company under the latter company's Act of 29th June 1863.

By the Railway's (Southern Group) Amalgamation Scheme of 22nd December 1922, the London and South Western Railway Company became part of Southern Railway Company as from 1st January 1923.
