Description:

This series consists mainly of warrants, dating from 1485 to 1645, with a few oddments from 1674, prepared by the Clerks of the Signet and forwarded to the Office of the Keeper of the Privy Seal as his authority for making out writs or warrants of privy seal. It also includes warrants prepared by several other authorities.

There is a lengthy gap in the surviving warrants for the privy seal, between 1645 and 1766. The reason for this gap is not known.
