These pensions and allowances were instituted in 1883 and were originally administered by Greenwich Hospital. Responsibility for payment was transferred by the Admiralty to the Ministry of Pensions in 1916: their administration was re-transferred to the Admiralty with effect from 1 0ctober 1921 by the War Pensions Act, 1920 (10 &11 Geo V, c 23) and an Order in Council of 7 November 1924. |
