Administrative / biographical background:

The Ethnic Minority Advisory Group (EMAG) provides advice to government on issues related to the disadvantage individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds face in relation to the labour market. EMAG is an independent body, supported by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP); their role is to advise all government departments whose policies impact on labour market performance. EMAG was initially formed in 2003 as the Ethnic Minority Stakeholder Group; the Group changed its name to EMAG in 2006.

From 1 October 2012 EMAG was reconstituted as the Ethnic Minority Employment Stakeholder Group (EMESG).
