Catalogue description Palatinate of Lancaster: Crown Court: Depositions
|Title:||Palatinate of Lancaster: Crown Court: Depositions|
This series consists of bundles of depositions, informations and examinations concerning criminal proceedings at sessions of the Crown Court in Lancaster.
Early documents sometimes, but not always, bear the name of the person making the deposition or the name of the accused, but there is rarely sufficient detail to facilitate location of other documents relating to the case such as indictments, or identification of the proceedings on the assize rolls. Later documents bear cover markings such as the name of the parties, the offence, the name of the person making the deposition, the place and date of the hearing, and an occasional number.
Each bundle contains smaller groupings of documents in a roughly chronological arrangement.
