1 letter (Richard Morley, Mayor of Nottingham and Andrew Amos, Recorder at the Nottingham Town Sessions) on behalf of John James, convicted at the Nottinghamshire Quarter Sessions on 7 January 1836, for embezzlement against Mary Rook, his employer. There is also a covering letter from A Enfield, Town Clerk, Nottingham and a letter regarding the prisoner's remission and discharge plans. Grounds for clemency: served 15 months of his sentence, after making enquiries feels prisoner has served his punishment and believes he will be honest in future and therefore his sentence should be remitted. Initial sentence: 2 years imprisonment. Annotated: remission - 29 April 1837. MX32 |
