1 individual petition (Elizabeth Eaton, the prisoner's employer) on behalf of Ann Crawley convicted at the Old Bailey in September 1828 for stealing from her mistress. There is a copy of the deposition taken before Matthias Paine Lucas, Lord Mayor of London on 5 November 1828 against Mary Ann Walters, another servant of Elizabeth Eaton charged with stealing from her mistress and a summary of the case claiming the Lord Mayor thinks Crawley innocent and Walters guilty. Grounds for clemency: prisoner was falsely convicted on evidence from Mary Ann Walters; some of stolen items were pledged before prisoner had started working for Elizabeth Eaton. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: free pardon prepared 7 November 1828. NN 44
