Title: | English House Condition 1991 Survey: Interview Survey dataset |
Description: |
This dataset contains data relating to the household Interview Survey of the 1991 English House Condition Survey. The household interview was one of four main components of the 1991 EHCS. The interview survey obtained much the same information as in 1986, but with some important additions. It comprised interviews with households to determine their characteristics, (including detailed financial circumstances of those in the household), and householders' attitudes to their homes, and repairs to their homes; their satisfaction with the condition of their homes; the nature and cost of improvement and repair work they have undertaken or intend to undertake, and to establish the effectiveness of heating arrangements in the home. Some information was collected on the long-term illness of household members, to relate this to the condition of their homes; and also information on household members' incomes, employment, and savings. The questions were directed at the householder, also called the Head of Household (HOH) or the Informant.
The principal table in the dataset is Interview; users should note that several other tables within this dataset appear to repeat entire sections from this principal table, effectively creating 'subsets' of Interview. This dataset contains 49 tables. The field names, original descriptions and encoding have been taken from the original SPSS datafiles and, if possible, supplemented using the 1991 EHCS Database Documentation Manual. |
