Description: | This dataset represents the version of the Historic Mortality Data Files database which was published by the Office for National Statistics in 1997 under the title"Twentieth Century Mortality Files". It includes population and mortality data for England and Wales covering the years 1901-1995. This dataset consists of 19 tables of three types: a Population table (POPLNS) covering the period 1901-1995; nine Historic Deaths tables (ICD1DTHS-1CD9DTHS) which cover the period 1901-1910, and the periods corresponding to the different revisions of the ICD which were implemented in England and Wales in 1911-1995; and nine ICD dictionary tables (ICD1DESC-1CD9DESC), which explain the codes used for causes of death in the Historic Deaths tables.
