The first part of this series contains correspondence and papers of the central staff of the Cabinet Committee on Reconstruction under the Paymaster General including records of delegations received by Sir William Jowitt. The papers relate to the consideration and planning of administrative machinery to implement the Beveridge Report. The second part of the series contains 100,000 series files (otherwise in MH 79 and PIN 19) of the Ministry of Health later transferred to the Ministry of National Insurance, and subsequently re-registered in a NI 99 series. These were re-registered in C (Chairman of Court of Referees) and DI (Disclosure of Information) and put into this series. They include papers reflecting both the direct responsibility of the department in the field of social insurance and allied services and departmental representation on the Committee on Social Insurance and Allied Services Committee (Beveridge Committee), the Phillips Committee and the central staff. Includes minutes, circulated papers and the report of the Phillips Committee. |
