Journal of the HMS Arab, by Thomas Tappen, Surgeon; between 1 March 1800 and 1 September 1800, during which time the ship was employed in the Jamaica Station.

Folios 4-5: Thomas Smith, taken ill at Jamaica Station; sick or hurt, fever attended with considerable inflammation; taken ill on 14 March 1800, discharged 12 February 1800 to duty.

Folio 5: Robert Johnson, taken ill at Jamaica Station; sick or hurt, scorbutic ulcer discharging an acrid sanious matter and much hemorrhage with inflammation; taken ill on 16 March 1800, sent 21 February 1800 to hospital later died.

Folio 6: Michael Murphy, taken ill at Jamaica Station; sick or hurt, fever attended with considerable pyrexia; taken ill on 26 March 1800, sent 29 February 1800 to hospital later died.

Folio 6: John Middleton, taken ill at Jamaica Station; sick or hurt, fever the symptoms were exceding urgent therefore on the attack I sent him on shore; taken ill on 7 April 1800, sent 7 April 1800 to hospital later died.

Folio 6: Vincent Rumbo, taken ill at Jamaica Station; sick or hurt, fever much similar to the previous case; taken ill on 27 March 1800, sent 29 March 1800 to hospital later died.

Folio 6: Henry Burney, taken ill at Jamaica Station; sick or hurt, contused finger occasioned by the block in the act of hauling on board the main Jack the first joint of the thumb being shattered; taken ill on 10 April 1800, sent 15 April 1800 to hospital.

Folio 6: 10 April 1800; I have observed that injuries of the joints in this country very seldom heal without taking it off and always extremely tedious.
