Helmuth WEHR, aliases WEHR BEI, Otto HARTMANN: German. WEHR first joined the Abwehr in 1931, becoming head of a uniquely independent unit within the Abwehr known as the Hauskapelle, much of whose work was said to resemble that of a private detective agency. Captured Abwehr records on the file appear to incriminate an American, Raymond Ames BURR, who is represented as a Hauskapelle agent in Paris and Berlin pre-war
