Wilhelm WANNECK, alias WARNECK: German. WANNECK was discharged from the Austrian army when he joined the Deutscher Soldaten Bund and then joined the illegal Nazi Party and took part in the 1934 putsch, fled to Germany and joined the Gestapo. By 1938 he was posted to Vienna attached to the SD before becoming Walter SCHELLENBERG's chief assistant in Balkan and Italian matters and working closely with KALTENBRUNNER. He was interrogated in 1945 and 1946
