Description: |
Paul LOEW-BEER (1) / Rachel Alice LOEW-BEER (2), aliases Paul LOW BEER / Alice LOEW-BEER, Ala LOEW-BEER, Rachel Alice RABINOWITSCH: (1) Austrian (2) Russian/Austrian. Paul LOEW-BEER was an Austrian chemist and businessman who arrived in the UK as a refugee from Czechoslovakia and Austria in 1938. He had strong communist links in Austria in the 1920s and 1930s; and from 1940 to 1946 was actively involved and influential in a number of UK-based communist dominated or influenced Austrian ?migr? organisations. LOEW-BEER returned to Austria in 1948. Despite his strong international communist links and prominence as a businessman and financier there is no clear evidence in these files that he was ever a Soviet Intelligence agent. These files contain few independent references to their joint subject, Alice LOEW-BEER, a Doctor who evidently shared her husband's communist sympathies |
Note: | Serial 207b: LOEW-BEER's relationship with Edith TUDOR-HART and others. Serial 208d: summary of LOEW-BEER's case and photograph. Serial 212a: LOEW-BEER responsible for liaison between Czech, German and Austrian Communist parties. Serial 218b: LOEW-BEER's various notable Communist friends and associates |
