The Electronics, Telecommunications and Instrumentation Division of the Ministry of Technology (MINTECH), was succeeded by the Electronics and Instrumentation Division, and then in 1969 by the Electronics and Computers Division.

The Electronics, Telecommunications and Instrumentation Division, and its immediate successor, were responsible for the electronics industry, for telecommunications and for scientific instruments. In May 1969, the Electronics and Instrumentation Division acquired responsibility for the computer industry

The division also had sponsorship responsibility for the electronics industry, including telecommunications, television, scientific instruments and instrumentation for industrial process control.
