Ignace REISS, Elsa REISS: Polish. REISS was a Comintern Agent for a time before being taken on by OGPU, the Soviet Intelligence Service, mainly for industrial espionage against Germany. He was at odds with official policy in the 1920s over the demotion of Trotsky and again in the 1930s over the purges which were then taking place. Having broken with his paymasters, he was murdered by OGPU agents in Switzerland in 1937
